Eye on the sky

Recent GPS tracker behaviour of the Teltonika tracker modules has shown that immobilization based on detected speed needs the GPS status to be ready to go at any moment. The behaviour we witnessed was that devices which had gone to sleep refused to enable the immobilizer, as they had no GPS “fix” (where it has seen, tracked, and assesed the satellite signals to determine its location and speed). Obtaining a GPS fix from a cold start can take a few minutes.

Not much use when you’re just wanting to walk away from your vehicle and have the assurance that when you hit that immobilizer command on your phone it won’t throw you an error saying that it can’t disable the vehicle right now.

So, we’ve altered the settings on our trackers used with our Daily Driving subscription to keep their GPS modules awake. We’ve recorded the data, and power consumption has only increased a small amount. For the reliablity you need with an immobilizer that gets used daily, we’ll take it.

Storage subscriptions

For customers using our Storage subscription, we keep the immobiliser asleep, but via the use of our Tap-To-Drive feature, waking the device to perform immobilisation is super quick and simple.
