How does the Immobilisation Work?

The ImmoTrack Online service fits a GPS tracker and accompanying immobiliser wiring to your vehicle. Via your mobile phone and our Mobile App, you have full visibility of your vehicle and full control over the immobiliser. You can even do it all from our web portal!

When you choose to immobilise your vehicle, the electrical power circuit that allows your engine to run is intercepted and the power is blocked. This method of immobilisation stops many of the current theft methods that use handheld devices to reprogram your computer or program a new key - without the vehicle computer online, new keys cannot be programmed.

Is my existing vehicle security not enough?

Most older vehicles made before the 2000s have no security other than your door lock and the key needing to fit your ignition, whereas all modern vehicles have some form of digital security to stop theft. The problem today is that thieves have learned how to bypass these digital systems because they are computers; just like hackers break the security on websites and expose your personal or financial information, thieves can now break the security on many vehicle computers.

ImmoTrack Online adds an additional layer of security to your vehicle. Attempts to steal your car using known techniques will fail, and the thief will either have to spend hours finding and attempting to bypass the additional security, or will have to give up and move on to an easier target.

Do I have to use it all the time?

You have full control over when you want to use your ImmoTrack Online immobiliser capability. If your car has no security of its own, you can configure your Immobiliser to always secure your vehicle. But if your car has good security and is not known to be a high target of theft, you can use your ImmoTrack Online immobiliser to disable your vehicle only if it is stolen, using our “Disable Stolen Vehicle” Command.

This command uses a technique called Safe Engine Cut Off (SECO), which will wait until the next time the vehicle has stopped moving, and then cut power to the engine.

Can the Immobilisation feature be automated for when I park?

Yes! You can use our Automatic Immobiliser feature to ensure that if you forget to Immobilise your car when parked, the immobiliser will trigger after a set period of time. Simply send the “Auto Immobiliser ON” command, and you won’t have to worry about your vehicle if you forgot to immobilise it, and can’t find your phone!

Our automated Immobiliser feature is best paired with our Tap-To-Drive accessory, allowing you to rapidly activate your vehicle if you are stopping and starting your vehicle many times per day, without needing to keep accessing your phone.

An even greater benefit of automatic immobilisation and our Tap-To-Drive accessory is that both features do not require a mobile signal or GPS signal to work. There is always your backup immobiliser control switch, but it’s supposed to be hard to find and access. Making use of automatic immobilisation and Tap-To-Drive gives you the assurance you need and the ease of control you want.

All ImmoTrack Online kits are provided with a complete and thorough installation guide. If you’re a seasoned DIYer, you can easily install any of our kits yourself!
