Got Carbs? No Problem.

The initial business tagline for ImmoTrack Online was “Modern Security for Classic Vehicles”. Our standard immobilisation offering is - and this is no secret - one or more circuit intercepts which stop power or signals being delivered to selected vehicle systems, in order stop engines from being started and to safely disable a running engine.

However many classic vehicles are carbureted. The question for a carbureted vehicle becomes how do we reliably immobilise them when the obvious choice is just cutting power to the ignition coil? It’s pretty easy to hotwire an ignition coil, and unless the vehicle has an electric fuel pump, there’s very few other circuits you can intercept to stop a relatively determined thief.

ImmoTrack Flow

Ladies and gentlement, we introduce to you our Fuel Cut Solenoid, the ImmoTrack Flow. This simple solution provides a robust weatherproof fuel cut solenoid for carbureted vehicles with mechanical fuel pumps. We even support High Flow, and 24 volt systems!

If your vehicle has a mechanical fuel pump, by placing the ImmoTrack Flow in-line between your fuel tank and the carburetor we allow fuel to flow when the vehicle is Activated, and block fuel flow when it is Disabled. Upon disabling your vehicle we cut power to the ignition coil and block fuel flow.

The behaviour of vehicles with ImmoTrack Flow differs based on the state of the vehicle:

  • Remotely disabling a stolen vehicle:

    • The vehicle shuts down immediately due to the ignition coil power being cut

    • Attempts to hotwire the coil may allow vehicle restart, but the fuel in the carburetor bowl will be rapidly consumed, allowing no more than a few metres of vehicle movement before it shuts down again

  • Immobilising a parked vehicle:

    • The vehicle may be able to be started if the thief immediately hotwires the ignition coil

    • The vehicle will rapidly consume fuel in the carburetor bowls and shut down again shortly after it starts and moves a few metres

Safety restrictions

ImmoTrack Online does not permit use of fuel cut solenoids on any Common Rail Diesel vehicles. Common Rail diesels use the fuel as the lubricant for the high pressure fuel pump, and any fuel cuts can cause irreversible engine damage. Installers are expressly forbidden from using fuel cut solenoids on common rail diesels.
